Clean Cup! Move Down!: Tea-ing Off

After the disappointment of finding out that some people couldn't come, I needed to cheer up, and fast!  Luckily, Sister Goodlaff had put together such an incredible ambiance that I couldn't help but perk up. I got to Mama Goodlaff's house about an hour before shower time to observe the perfection before it became, um, loved, and make sure that I was on hand to greet guests at arrival time.

Rocking my party hat, my new dress, and new shoes, I had a lot of time to walk around in a room transformed by Mama and Sister Goodlaff into a shower that dreams are made of.

At this point, I'm sure you're dying to see the details, so without further ado (you know there will be a ton of pictures below the cut, right?  Consider yourself warned!):
Our dining room/ formal living room was overtaken by the longest banquet table ever seen in the Goodlaff household. Each place was set with a unique cup and saucer that Mama Goodlaff had found during months and months of hunting secondhand stores.

The napkins in each goblet?  Mama Goodlaff and I chose each of the fabrics, and Mama Goodlaff sewed them all on her brand new sewing machine!

Sister Goodlaff did small flower arrangements, and placed them in mason jars, teapots, and teacups all around the house.  The teacups were nestled in moss and little mushrooms were cheerfully peeking out, in an ode to the Alice in Wonderland theme.

Drink Me!: Guests had the option of drinking hot tea, iced tea, lemonade, and a bellini-champagne punch.  Guess which one I chose? All four! Isn't the teacup stand adorable?

No Wonderland would be complete without a white rabbit! Our rabbit was sitting atop a pile of books, pocket watch and key at his feet.

Sister Goodlaff put "drink me" tags on bottles, placed old fashioned keys, pocket watches, and teapots all around the room, to add to the decor and keep with the theme.

Then, there was the food! Guests in the Goodlaff household never go hungry, and my shower was no exception to that rule.  There was a dessert bar with cheesecakes, brownies, lemon bars, scones, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and cream puffs, all in miniature.

Looking for something other than sweets?  No problem.  Miniature egg salad, chicken salad, and tuna sandwiches, quiches, vegetables, fruit, brie in pastry shells, and goat cheese rolled in pistachios on a spinach leaf.

As you can see, if you went away hungry, it was your own fault.

I love all of the details that Sister Goodlaff and Mama Goodlaff put into the bridal shower, because it really was a spectacular environment, and it kept to the the Alice in Wonderland Mad Tea Party theme without being too overwhelming.  It was such a fun atmosphere, and really made for an awesome setting!

At one o'clock the guests began to arrive, and it was time to chat, to eat, and to let the fun begin!

Did your bridal shower have a theme? How did it play out?
